Technical Service Consultant— South America Territory

Position Summary

The Technical Service Advisor serves as a positive leader and technical expert supporting the sales and service of Harper Corporation of America products throughout the South America Territory. This role provides advanced technical support across all stages of the printing process, particularly in graphic reproduction and flexographic printing.

By delivering technical expertise and consulting services, the Technical Service Advisor helps increase the value, opportunities, and market exposure of Harper Technical Services. The goal is to position Harper as a single-source solution provider for printing-related challenges, from prepress through final printed production.

Key Responsibilities

Technical & Sales Support

  • Support the Territory Sales Manager in growing regional sales.
  • Perform roll audits, banded roll trials, and press characterizations.
  • Identify opportunities for technical consulting and service support.
  • Conduct needs assessments for customers and develop technical solutions.
  • Prepare and present Return on Investment (ROI) analyses.

Customer Engagement

  • Maintain regular customer communication and follow-up.
  • Provide technical guidance related to printing processes and color reproduction.
  • Manage both internal and external technical projects.

Strategic Planning & Reporting

  • Develop and coordinate a territory strategic plan.
  • Submit regular reports including:
    • Daily activity reports
    • Weekly updates
    • Monthly highlights
    • Expense reports
    • Customer needs assessments

Industry & Technical Development

  • Stay actively involved in industry innovations and emerging technologies.
  • Write technical articles to strengthen personal and company presence in the industry.
  • Collaborate with educational institutions to promote advancements in printing technology.
  • Attend trade shows, seminars, and industry events.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Plan travel and customer visits proactively.
  • Deliver technical presentations and PowerPoint seminars when required.
  • Manage travel and operational expenses within the assigned budget.
  • Maintain full accountability for all aspects of the role.
  • Demonstrate strong time management and multitasking skills.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of products, services, and supplies across all Harper divisions.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Degree in Printing or Graphic Arts, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the flexographic printing industry or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of process printing and color communication.
  • Proficiency with personal computers and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and handle multiple priorities.
  • Must reside within the assigned territory.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record required.
  • Valid Passport for traveling internationally.

Because the role is territory-based, the individual will receive limited direct supervision. Most communication with management will occur via phone or email, with periodic in-person meetings and annual performance reviews.

Travel Requirements

  • 50–70% travel within the territory.
  • Some overnight and weekend travel may be required.
  • No more than two consecutive days working from the home office.

Language & Communication Skills

  • Strong written and spoken Spanish and English required.
  • Ability to prepare technical reports, proposals, and industry articles.
  • Presentation skills required.
  • Additional languages are a plus.
