Proofer Storage Stand Latest Innovation in Anilox Tooling from HarperScientificâ„¢

-  A Proofer Storage Standâ„¢ is the latest addition to the expanding
anilox roller toolbox developed by HarperScientificâ„¢, the anilox printing and
coating supplies division of global anilox roll supplier Harper Corporation of
America.

Designed as a protective storage unit that offers operators easy availability,
the new stand stores up to six proofer rollers and proofer assembly. The
proofer rollers are suspended by their journals to protect the integrity of
their engraved surfaces.

The new storage stands feature corrosion-resistant stainless steel construction
and rubber supports that won’t scratch or mark table surfaces. The stands
accommodate both wide hub and more recently introduced narrow hub proofer
rollers – both available from HarperScientific.

In addition, the new unit stores assemblies for hand proofing, including the
Echocel Juniorâ„¢, Phantom QD and Phantom. By storing proofer assemblies with the
rubber roller upright, the stand prevents the creation of flat spots resulting
from roller contact with a work bench.

Nearly 200 On Hand For Green Bay Harper® Roadshow Hosted By PCMC

 

Charlotte, NC, April 21, 2011– A record turnout of nearly 200 attended the March 30  roadshow underwritten by global anilox supplier Harper Corporation and hosted by Paper Converting Machine Company/Aquaflex in Green Bay, WI.

The one-day seminar featured seven in-depth presentations on printing and converting technology issues and a 75-minute demonstration of wide web and narrow web press techniques conducted by PCMC/Aquaflex experts.

Attendees heard presentations on a variety of subjects: the latest rotary cutting tools, ways to effectively combine plate and surface screening, use of plate mounting tape, options for enhancing color consistency in the pressroom, tips on boosting printing profits and the benefits of anilox reliability on improving on-press color consistency.

The event included a complimentary lunch and door prizes. The roadshow generated positive feedback from many in the audience, including Jim Costello who traveled 95 miles upstate to the seminar from Menomonee Falls.

New HarperScientificâ„¢ EZ-Boreâ„¢ Cleaner Brush Simplifies Anilox and Plate Sleeve Cleaning

Charlotte, N.C., January 4, 2010 - An
easy-to-use brush for cleaning sleeve bores is the latest innovation from
HarperScientificâ„¢, the printing and coating supplies division of global anilox
supplier Harper Corporation of America.

The new EZ-BOREâ„¢ Bore Cleaner Brush simplifies maintenance of
anilox and plate sleeves and makes sleeve mounting and demounting from a press
print station easier.

Supplied as a kit, the EZ-BOREâ„¢ Bore Cleaner Brush features an
aluminum anodized handle with special grip, a customer-specified brush in 4-,
5-, 6-, 7- or 8-inch diameters and foam pads in diameters ranging from 5 to 8
inches.

When supplied new, mandrels are designed for minimal expansion
by air and compression of its foam layer to assure hassle-free sleeve
installation along their full length. Clean, ink-free components are essential
to an efficient process.

In addition, bore cleaning protects a sleeve from damage
caused by the buildup of ink at each of the sleeve’s ends. Dried ink can cause
a sleeve to be “glued” to the mandrel. Even a slight amount of ink on a
sleeve’s inner liner can alter the sleeve’s inner diameter. That change can
tighten up the sleeve and increase sliding friction, complicating installation.

Harper Corporation of America Partners with adphos to Supply Printer for Open House

Charlotte, North Carolina, June 15, 2015—Global anilox roll supplier Harper Corporation of America is proud to support the Munich IMI Industrial Ink Jet Technology Showcase by partnering with adphos Digital Printing GmbH and supplying a QD™ Flat Bed Flexo Printer to demonstrate flexographic printing capabilities.  

Harper and the adphos Group have collaborated at previous printed electronics conferences in the United States but this will be the first time the two have joined together for a demonstration in Europe. Harper will ship the QD™ Flat Bed Flexo Printer to the German headquarters of adphos for use in their open house to demonstrate a simulate printed circuit using silver ink. The print samples will be sintered with an adphosNIR®curing solution so that attendees can see electrical conductivity in the Harper Flexo printed sample. The open house is part of the IMI Europe program and Harper will have information available for attendees to learn more about flexographic printing and Harper’s QD™ system.

Harper Corporation of America Presents at NPIRI Summer Course

 Charlotte, North Carolina, July 24, 2018—Global anilox roll supplier Harper Corporation of America maintains an active presence in the flexographic industry when it comes to educating and training current and future printing professionals. Tony Donato, Product Development Engineer at Harper, recently presented at an NPIRI Summer Course held at The Sonoco Institute at Clemson University, Clemson, South Carolina from July 15-20, 2018.    

The course brought together around 50 attendees who work as ink formulators and ink development professionals and were interested in learning the press processes and elements that interact with ink. The course covered the full spectrum of flexo and gravure printing, lamination, and converting processes including observation of flexo and digital press runs, flexo plate making and mounting, substrates for surface and reverse printing and lamination, proofing and printability demonstrations, and anilox discussion and application.

Donato led the anilox discussion and application portion covering the purpose of anilox, what is necessary for anilox printing, and how to choose the appropriate anilox. He provided insight into the basics of the mechanical dimensional requirements including roundness, taper and T.I.R., cell count (CPI) and volume (BCM), as well as the ratios of anilox cells to plate dots. Furthermore, attendees learned about the ratio between pigment size and cell opening for pearlescents and metallics.

A major focus of discussion was also explaining why BCM controls color and why cell count is tied to the plate screen. Donato also emphasized the importance of proper anilox handling, cleaning, and storage.

Donato was thrilled to be a part of this course for the National Association of Printing Ink Manufacturers and have the opportunity to interact and engage with so many attendees regarding the role of anilox in the printing process.

Harper Corporation of America Presenting at 3M 2015 Flexo Symposium

Charlotte, North Carolina, July 6, 2015—Global anilox roll supplier Harper Corporation of America is excited to announce its participation at the 3M 2015 Flexo Symposium. The theme of this year’s symposium is “Productivity – Maximum Results when there is Minimum Time,” and Shawn Oetjen, Harper’s Midwest Technical Graphic Advisor, will be a featured speaker.
