For almost 38 Years, Canflexographics has been at the forefront of innovation, education, and strategic partnerships, playing a pivotal role in advancing flexographic printing in Canada. Their commitment to excellence and continuous pursuit of innovation have made them an integral part of the industry's growth and success.

In 1993, a transformative relationship began between Mr. Dave Horsman and Mr. Ron Harper. This partnership laid the foundation for Canflexographics' commitment to quality and reliability, setting the stage for the remarkable 30-year celebration we mark today.

Kelly Roberts, Canflexo’s President,  joined Canflexographics in 2001, and reflected on his initial introduction and  enduring relationship with Mr. and Mrs. Harper,“Beyond business, the Harpers were keen on understanding the personal aspects of their associates, forging relationships that go beyond the corporate realm. This personal touch has been a hallmark of the Harper name, aligning seamlessly with Canflexographics' values.”

Before delving into sales, that initial  conversation between Kelly Roberts and Mr. Harper centered around education and the industry's needs in 2001. The Harper name has long been synonymous with education, and Kelly's collaboration and work with  Clemson University, Toronto Metropolitan University, the Canadian Flexographic Training Committee and the Canadian Print Scholarships Fund demonstrates the shared commitment to advancing education in flexography.

Flexographic printing, once the youngest of all printing processes, underwent significant changes, making it competitive in the evolving printing landscape. Despite the rise of digital printing, Canflexographics believes in the enduring strength of flexography, with consistent anilox rolls being a key attribute. Harper Corporation's expertise in matching anilox roll line screens and volumes has been a driving force in this regard.

Canflexographics acknowledges Harper Corporation's role in their success story, considering Harper as more than a supplier but a partner in growth. The enduring relationship has been characterized by mutual learning, support, and shared growth, making Harper one of Canflexographics' longest and  valued partnerships.

As  Kelly, Pascal Ross – Sales Manager and Christine Roberts – Vice President, look back on 30 years of achievements, the celebration with Harper is not just a reflection of their success but a testament to the enduring partnerships, shared values, and commitment to advancing the flexographic industry in Canada.

Charlotte, North Carolina, July 17, 2017—Global anilox roll supplier Harper Corporation of America recently hosted a training seminar at their DePere, WI manufacturing facility specifically aimed at educating printers on the different measurement methods for verifying volume on anilox rolls. According to Alan Rogers, Vice President of Sales, these types of educational workshops are important because there is not a standardized measurement system in the Flexo industry. Many customers are investing in scopes to verify their anilox volumes and are unaware of the volume differences between common scopes available in today's market.

The seminar focused on different methods of measuring such as the Microdynamics 3DQC (scope), Anicam (scope), EchoCheks, Liquid Volume, Capatch and gravure scope. Each one of these systems are used throughout the industry, however, each one measures differently and provides different results thus confusing customers.

Josh Kiser, Harper Corporation's HarperScientific Product Manager, led the session and provided detailed information on each of these measurement systems. Kiser believes this type of hands-on workshop is the most effective way to get a better understanding of the industry methods in place to measure volumes. He also believes scopes should be used for process and inventory control versus volume verification since they may differ from your anilox supplier’s volume measurement system.

This was an open forum as customers provided valuable feedback to compare their internal methods of managing their anilox inventory and gained much needed insight on how to use scopes as a tool for maintaining consistency in their process.

Charlotte, NC, September 9, 2010 – A motorized version of the patent pending Phantom QD™ proofing system developed by HarperScientific, division of global anilox supplier Harper Corporation will make its debut at Harper Booth 401 during LabelExpo.

The new Phantom QD™ Motorized unit is the latest addition to Harper’s breakthrough family of quick drawndown proofers – the first in the industry with complete portability and utility-free operation.

Tony Donato, Harper Product Development Engineer, said the motorized Phantom QD™ unit features a variable speed from 100 to 400 inches per minute and 110-volt power capability. Harper is offering the motorized option on its 800mm table length Phantom QD™.

All Harper QD systems maintain a constant loading pressure between the proofer and the substrate, according to Donato. By adding a motor to drive the proofer over the table length, Harper now has successfully eliminated another process variable.

“This advanced option represents Harper’s intention to make the Phantom QD™ proofing system the most versatile tool in the ink room,” Donato said. All models provide a linearly guided table, a magnetic-loaded doctor blade, quick-change anilox roller and superior repeatability.

Phantom models are available in a traditional format for water- based and solvent inks where rollers are engraved at a 60-degree hex angle and in a viscous format that is an ideal for thick and metallic inks where rollers are engraved at a 30-degree hex angle.
