Charlotte, NC, November 24, 2010 – Two new styles of imaged proofer transfer rolls are now available from HarperScientific™, the printing and coating division of global anilox supplier Harper Corporation of America.

Laser engraved, the proofer transfer rolls are imaged with a choice of company logo or a centered tone scale of 10, 35, 50 and 75 percent with a 100 percent solid on either side.

A custom imaged proofer roll (from customer-supplied graphic file) is the ideal way to identify ink room proofs to customers. The premise for the tone scaled roll can be used to predict how the mid-tone should be corrected (DGC) for different stocks (substrates). The result: a quick and easy way in prepress to correct for the varying dot gains of different stocks.

The imaged proofer transfer rolls are available in either a 45 or 55 durometer EPDM.

The imaged transfer roll option adds new functions to HarperScientific’s already versatile Phantom and Phantom QDbladed hand proofers, according to Tony Donato, Product Development Engineer at Harper. He said the option will especially benefit companies who print screens with spot colors by indicating how a stock responds to screens and how to cut them back to optimize outcome.

These proofing tools can save flexo printers thousands of dollars by improving production, eliminating downtime and decreasing ink and substrate waste.

Charlotte, North Carolina, August 19, 2013—A strong supporter of industry education, global anilox roll supplier Harper Corporation of America was proud to bolster the efforts of the Annual Phoenix Challenge Foundation Golf Tournament as a platinum sponsor. Held on August 7, 2013, the event funded programs spearheaded by the Phoenix Challenge Foundation (PCF) for Flexographic Education and provided industry professionals with a wonderful networking opportunity that served as a successful scholarship fundraising initiative.

The PCF was developed in order to help students to access the career opportunities that are available through the flexographic industry by providing them with the resources necessary to get to know what, exactly, these professional positions entail. The Annual Phoenix Challenge Foundation Golf Tournament is the biggest fundraiser for the PCF and the funds are used to host the High School Flexographic Skills Competition at the CPCC Harper Campus' national flexographic center and the College Competition held at the FFTA annual forum. The PCF has distributed over $51,000 in scholarships and has had 800 students compete in its 16 years of existence. The PCF is funded by the flexographic printing community to help expose and develop workers who will keep flexography going well into the future.

Starting with Ron and Katherine Harper and continuing with the next generation, Harper Corporation of America has long supported and will continue to support flexographic education. Harper's efforts include sponsorships and participation in numerous initiatives to raise funds for scholarships, programs, and other related causes. Harper Corporation is proud to continue the legacy of its founders with regard to supporting flexographic educational programs and looks forward to remaining a strong presence at such events.

The mini lab’s 220/240 V 50/60 Hz single phase 13 amp power supply fits with most workplace locations. Available options include in-feed and out-feed sample catching trays,

iron and gallium doped lamps, spare UV cassettes and UV lamps and an inert gas nitrogen atmosphere capsule for inert curing applications.

The Performance Wash is effective at removing water-based, UV, and solvent inks and can penetrate through multiple layers of ink. In addition, it is ready to use at room temperature or can be heated up to 100°F. This versatile cleaning solution can be used in automatic roll cleaning machines with rinse cycles or ultrasonic tanks. Charlotte, North Carolina, August 9, 2012—HarperScientific, a division of global anilox roll supplier Harper Corporation of America, is now offering custom imaged proofer rubber transfer rolls. These proofer transfer rolls can be personalized from text or graphic files.

The imaged proofer transfer rolls work in all HarperScientific's Echocel™ Junior, Phantom™, and Phantom QD™ proofers. Laser engraved in the round, these rolls can bear the client's image of choice, like a company logo or tone scale. A reversed out text file on the end of the roll face provides a way to specifically identify ink room proofs. A tonal scale image allows users an efficient way for checking ink characteristics at a 50 percent or other desired screen.

Besides providing custom engravings, two tonal scale designs are available.  In the “standard” panel scale, 10 percent, 35 percent, 50 percent, and 75 percent screens are centered and wrapped around the repeat with a 100 percent solid on either side. The second predesigned “continuous” tone scale has 25 percent, 50 percent, and 75 percent screens again flanked on either side by a 100 percent solid. Customers interested in “continuous” tone scale rubber rolls can choose from 45, 55, and 70 durometer EPDM while “standard” tone scale rubber rolls are offered in 55 and 70 durometer EPDM.
