Harper Corporation Supports Flexographic Education with Latest Donation

Published: 05.31.2012

Charlotte, North Carolina, May 31, 2012—Global anilox roll supplier Harper Corporation of America has announced the donation of four anilox rolls to Knox Community High School. Additionally, Harper is providing a variety of press room supplies to assist in the flexographic education that the school offers.

The four anilox rolls that have been donated are for the school’s 830 model Mark Andy press. In addition to these rolls, the HarperScientific division of Harper Corporation of America has contributed a stainless steel brush, CeramClean II, and Multi-Purpose Master Mix cleaner.

These additional products will help the students of Knox Community High School’s flexographic program maintain the donated equipment. CeramClean II cleans water-based, ultraviolet, and solvent inks—even if dried. This cleaning product will allow students to remove these inks without damaging the equipment.

Multi-Purpose Master Mix is a maintenance product that will allow the students to prevent ink clogging while removing debris that may accumulate in the press system. A powder formula, Multi-Purpose Master Mix dissolves in water and cleans the press system, preventing damage to the anilox rolls.

The flexographic students at Knox Community High School are planning to participate in next year’s Phoenix Challenge annual International High School Flexographic Skills Competition on March 6 through 8, 2013. Jeff Sullivan, the graphics instructor for the high school, has started preparing his team for the competition. Two and a half days long, the challenge will test students’ ability to operate a Flexo press and participate in prepress and plate making. Additionally, students will be tested on their written knowledge and flexographic math skills. Scheduled to take place in Charlotte, North Carolina, this event is hosted by the Phoenix Challenge Foundation. For more information about this organization, visit phoenixchallenge.org.

Harper Corporation of America is delighted to assist in the education of future flexographic professionals. Through donations like this one, the organization is able to help build the industry on a solid educational foundation.
